Sadly, the child is sometimes bullied at school for this, which makes me angry. The child is smart, loving and acts normal to me as any child from a heterosexual family would act. The new trend (or so it appears in my opinion) is more and more people today are choosing to be gay and are choosing to adopt a child (or children). I think the best we can do (nannies and people in the general community) is treat each other the same, even if situations are a bit awkward or something we are not used to. This is all new to me so I'm trying to just be positive and optimistic, while doing my job as a nanny.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-773373869463725905.post-30565454883656849782011-07-02T11:12:48.273-04:002011-07-02T11:12:48.273-04:00Sure I would!Sure I would!AuPairDebbiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07601954529507054216noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-773373869463725905.post-10539600268887676262011-06-28T06:01:50.811-04:002011-06-28T06:01:50.811-04:00Have you ever worked for gay, lesbian, bisexual, o...Have you ever worked for gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender (LGBT) parents? If not, would you work for LGBT parents?

Alyssa: if they'd have me!

Debbie: yes! There are so many other issues much more important like their style of discipline and how much they will pay me!

Sarah: If they have kids and we all communicate great. Parents are parents

Victoria: I have solicited several gay couples for childcare work. If hired, I'd be as delighted to care take their children as I am for heterosexual couples.

Stacie: absolutely

Lisa: Yes, I worked for a dad (he didn't have a partner at the time, it had just ended before I started) who had adopted his children from overseas.

Jem:Yes, I've provided caregiving to the children of two separate same-gender families. I'm still friendly w both families 5 and 7 years later

Shelby: I interviwed with one couple. One dad was a stay at home dad, the other worked. They were going to pay me a ton of money to watch their twins, but they seemed so disinterested in actually seeing their kids, (stay at home dad with a 50 hr a ...week nanny, and a full time weekend nanny!) That I knew it wasn't a good fit for me. I know it has nothing to do with them being gay really, but that's been my experience. They spent so much money to get these babies you would think they would want to spend time with them!

Kathie:I agree with those who say parenting style, compatability, and compensation are more important then sexual orientation. We teach the children we care for to not discriminate so I guess we shouldn't either.Facebook Pagehttp://www.facebook.com/pages/Be-the-Best-Nanny-Newsletter/207689170444noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-773373869463725905.post-48135804349927717412011-06-27T15:43:37.908-04:002011-06-27T15:43:37.908-04:00Where i live there aren't any gay or lesbian c...Where i live there aren't any gay or lesbian couples. I would feel bad for children in my area who had gay parents simply because it would be a big deal here. I don't know if they would be bullied but people would definitely talk.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-773373869463725905.post-89540559375041589292011-06-27T13:21:50.049-04:002011-06-27T13:21:50.049-04:00I'm not sure, i would have to meet them first ...I'm not sure, i would have to meet them first like with any job. I knew of a few- and asked- and two said they did not feel comfortable- this was back 10 years ago. I was thinking if I did not have a job- would I take a job like that? 10 years ago- most likely not...but today- I've come a long way..and feel more secure and confident being a nanny- so I think I'd do a better job now- if someone had a rude comment.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-773373869463725905.post-30388859001740160232011-06-27T12:24:46.606-04:002011-06-27T12:24:46.606-04:00Not a problem for me at allNot a problem for me at allReynanoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-773373869463725905.post-19281796453116408922011-06-27T05:45:22.937-04:002011-06-27T05:45:22.937-04:00Absolutely if I liked the parents. Doesn't matter to me if they are straight or gay, single or divorced, blended family or traditional as long as the parents and I agree on child rearing and they treat me well.Steph 6https://www.blogger.com/profile/16359432024144186061noreply@blogger.com
