June To-Do List for Nannies and Au Pairs

It's Summer. Are You Halfway There or Need to Catch Up?

1. The start of summer is a good time to reassess your goals and your actions so far this year. Did you make New Years resolutions? If so, it is time to check if you are accomplishing your goals.

2. If you have not met your goals, examine the impediments that may be holding you back.

3. Protect yourself from the sun. Keep yourself hydrated. Use plenty of sunscreen. These are important habits for the everyday life, all year long.

4. Do your part and be water smart. Take a water safety course at the local Red Cross.

5. Take calcium and Vitamin D. Get in the habit.

6. Do not be a victim of false urgency. Do not let the demands of e-gadgets dictate your life. There is no need to report or respond to every facet of life by texting, Twittering, calling, emailing, or being on Facebook. Remember, parents want you to care for their children, not spend time online or on the cell phone.

7. If you are encumbered by a bad deal or bad decision, end it. If you made an ill-considered purchase, return it or sell it. Do you pay too much for phone service or texting costs? If so, do the math, pay the penalty, and end the problem.

8. Are you too compassionate and give too much money to too many good causes? If so, consider volunteering your time and your talent and not your money. In any case, charitable giving should be part of your budget and not overwhelm your ability to pay your own bills.

9. Check your credit reports and FICO score. Yes, it is a pain, but the responsibility is up to you to assure that the information about you is accurate.

10. It's summer, reduce stress from the school year and be sure to have a lot of fun with the kids!
