Review of Eucerin and Aquaphor Products
Yesterday we started discussing eczema: the red, dry, itchy, scaly winter skin many of us get during the dry winter months.
Be the Best Nanny Newsletter's second favorite set of moisturizers for prevention and treatment of eczema are Aquaphor and Eucerin Original Moisturizing Creme. Eucerin Aquaphor Healing Ointment and Eucerin Original Lotion and Cremes are both excellent choices for routine infant skin care–for daily moisturizing all day long, especially after bathing and during diapering. Since Aquaphor and Eucerin Original Moisturizing Creme are both non-sensitizing and fragrance-free, they are an ideal choice for even the smallest infants’ fragile skin. There are a large line of Eucerin products, including body washes and lotions with SPF so shop around for the product that works best for you or your charges.
Eucerin Original Moisturizing Creme has been recommended for eczema patients for a long time. It moisturizes with petroleum and mineral oil. The The lotion version is not greasy at all. The manufacturer recommends using Eucerin on mildly flared to normal skin, as it has a thinner consistency than might be necessary for more severely inflamed skin. This also allows the product to be absorbed by the skin more easily.
Petroleum jelly acts as a barrier and will trap moisture in the skin. This is very important treatment for eczema sufferers. This is the main active ingredient in Eucerin Aquaphor Healing Ointment. Aquaphor is an is an ointment that contains 41% petroleum jelly -- more than it's thinner Eucerin counterpart.
The manufacturer recommends using Eucerin Aquaphor Healing Ointment for more severe cases of eczema, as skin may require the extra grease it provides to become adequately hydrated. I love it on my cracked, bleeding fingers. When skin is sore, red and irritated, Eucerin Aquaphor Healing Ointmentcan provide fast, soothing, healing help. Eucerin Aquaphor Healing Ointment is hypoallergenic and non-sensitizing–proven safe to use on even rashy or painful skin. And since it helps skin heal faster, it also helps prevent diaper rash pain fast!
Have you tried Eucerin and Aquaphor products? What are your thoughts?
excellent products. I use Eucerin lotion all over body including face, Aquaphor great everywhere except face.
ReplyDeleteI've used both on all charges-
ReplyDeleteboth work fine. I even use on my dry winter hands and it really helps.
My feet get very very dry and even bleed, especially in the winter so I tried using aquaphor and I can't beleive how my feet look now. Nothing has ever worked as well as aquaphor. Vaseline doesn't do the trick for some reason only this.
ReplyDeleteAquaphor helps but I found that just using any type of cream doesn't help severe eczema. You might need a prescription to help moderate to sever eczema. Aquaphor is only over the counter product helped sever eczema in my charge and she still needed antibiotics and cortizone for infections in the rash.
ReplyDeleteI like aquaphor the best for otc product. It's great on diaper rash too.

Aquaphor stands out in a crowd. When you use Aquaphor, you will finally get all of the best natural ingredients, and you will get all of the most effective amounts. With Aquaphor, you get beyond previous lowered expectations into a formula that can exceed anything you may have seen before. I would definitely recommend using Aquaphor for all of your skin needs.
ReplyDeleteThere are tons of products to try and it can be overwhelming so thanks for posting this series. I have found Mustela Dermo-Pediatrics Stelatopia Cream Cleanser & Weleda Calendula Baby Soap the best cleansers. Any fragrance-free lotion works and I like using oils before taking the baby out of the bath and then Aquaphor for the worst eczema.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter and I have extremely dry and very sensitive skin. We suffer from eczema & itchy skin that breaks out year round. A friend recommended it to me after prescription lotions and steroids failed to clear it up. The first time I used it, the burning and pain went away. All of the different products that we've tried have not come close to performing as well as Aquaphor. Vaseline is second but for some reason Aquaphor is better.
ReplyDeleteMy charge had really bad eczema on her cheeks and some all over body. Two days treatment with Aquaphor the dry splotches are HISTORY and the irritation on her cheeks is not inflammed any longer. This is a wonderful product, I will be investing in the larger tub for the house and I will plan on carrying the smaller tube in our diaper bag!
