Summer Book Reviews by Kids for Kids

Big Nate What Could Possibly Go Wrong? by Lincoln Peirce
Review by Myles, 9-years-old

My favorite book series is the Big Nate series by Lincoln Peirce. My favorite book in the series is Big Nate: What Could Possibly Go Wrong?I read it this summer and I highly recommend it for other kids about seven- to 10-years-old.

What I like most about the book is that it looks like a comic book. You see four to eight comic strip boxes per page, that include pictures. You read what is happening in the book by reading what the characters are saying to each other in bubbles.

The main characters are Nate, Francis, and Teddy. Nate is a clueless sixth grader that tries silly ideas and fails all the time. For example, Nate tries to impress the ladies but it turns out that he is a big "fail." He has a crush on a girl named Jenny. Jenny wants to talk to Nate and he gets all excited. He asks Jenny if she's asking about romance. She says, "Yes!" He's happy, then she hands him a love letter with a heart on it and asks Nate to give it to Artur (another boy).

When Nate gives the love letter to Artur, it's embarrassing because Artur thinks the love letter is from Nate. When Artur reads the note it starts, "Hi Cutie," and Artur asks Nate, "You think I'm cute?" It's hysterical.

Teddy is always feeling bad for Nate because Nate is always embarrassing himself. Francis is really smart and he actually makes Nate look even more stupid and sillier than he already is.

But, rather than me telling you the whole story, if you want a good laugh this summer I recommend you read it yourself, because it is really funny.

If you know a child that would like to see their book review online we'd love to post it here. We will only include their name and age to protect their privacy. Email the short book review to stephanie @ bestnannynewsletter.com
