Book Reviews By Kids for Kids

Are You There God? It's Me Margaret by Judy Blume is such a great book, I never wanted to put it down!
The book is about Margaret Simon who is a sixth grade girl who just moved to New Jersey and she does not like it that much. Her next door neighbor is Nancy. Nancy is friendly at first, but Nancy lies and doesn't act like a good friend. Nancy is rude because she was mean to people she thought were different.
Since Margaret's parents are different religions, she does not have a religion. Instead, she can talk to God privately. So, if she has a problem she talks to God.
I was surprised my mother let me read a book that talks about periods, boys, bras, and kissing games but my Mom said it's okay to read and talk about it with her.
Are you there God? It's me, Margaret is a great book for ten- to 14-year-olds because Margaret goes through problems that girls that age go through. Many girls Margaret's age could go through the same problems as she did. For example, being forced to move and the difficulty of trying to fit in and make new friends. I think a lot of kids have parents of different religions or don't follow a religion and they will like the book too because they can still talk to God even if they don't follow a religion.
