Do You Like Aveeno Products for Eczema

Prevention and Treatment of Eczema

We have been reviewing our favorite over-the-counter products for children with eczema. One of the most popular brands for treatment of eczema is Aveeno. Aveeno products can easily be found in grocery stores, pharmacies, and online (see below) nation-wide.

Aveeno Baby Eczema Therapy Moisturizing Cream - This cream is enriched with skin-soothing natural colloidal oatmeal to help restore lost moisture for the relief of dry skin associated with eczema and is clinically proven to reduce dryness and cracking associated with eczema while moisturizing skin for 24 hours. Clinically shown to soothe babies dry, itchy, irritated skin due to eczema. This product is steroid free and fragrance free.

Aveeno Baby Soothing Baby Bath Treatment, Fragrance Free - This bath treatment contains 100% natural colloidal oatmeal, which is the whole oat grain that has been specially prepared and milled to a fine powder so that it disperses well in bath water and it is known as a skin-soothing ingredient. And because individuals with eczema are often sensitive to fragrances and perfumes, this natural cleanser is fragrance free, provides temporary skin protection and relieves irritation and itching.

I really hate to say anything negative about anything but I've got to say that Aveeno products do nothing for me. Colloidal oatmeal does nothing for me. I'm sure it must be helpful for many babies and children but since childhood I've had dry, sensitive skin prone to eczema and oatmeal products never reduce itch and Aveeno never seems to help my super dry skin.

All the other products you have posted to date work just fine for me. Cetaphil the next least effective for me personally but it works fine for my charges.

Sorry but Aveeno is not recommended by me. Worth a try it might work for you.

I sadly agree with comment above. As far as Aveeno products, they are generally good for children I am sure, but they are not right for my severity or adult eczema. I do recommend non-soap body bath cleansers for sensitive skin. But baby products tend to be too harsh for me. I assume that Aveeno is good for people with the mildest dry skin, but not moderate to severe eczema. I think the eczema line of Aveeno is overpriced and not worth it for severe cases of sensitive skin.

We use Aveeno for my charge and she does great. I suppose if she had a severe rash it might be different. I recommend it.

This winter, my son's eczema flared up to the worst it's ever been. He'd previously used Aquaphor, Clinique, Elocon, Elidel & hydrocortisone as needed. Recently, we tried prednisone, pramosone, Dermarest, Cetaphil, Eucerin Plus among others. Some seemed to help but just didn't take care of the problem. We ordered the Aveeno Eczema moisturizing and body wash. Big improvement and not so many complaints of pain upon application. I think the moisturizing cream is more effective than the wash and I try to get him to apply some about 3 times a day. I like that he can use it liberally without dangerous precautions like the other meds. I think anyone with eczema should try the eczema moisturizing cream and I hope it works for you.
