Product Review Sunday

Beaba Babycook Baby Food Maker

Today we start a new feature on the Be the Best Nanny blog. Each Sunday we will highlight some of our favorite products for nannies and au pairs to use at work. Our first product is the Beaba Babycook Baby Food Maker.

For those working with infants this is the easiest way to prepare baby food. This French baby-food maker is a compact counter top appliance that multitasks as a steamer, blender, warmer, and defroster to prepare fresh, healthy meals for babies.

It starts by steam cooking vegetables, fruits, meat, and fish in less than 15 minutes, preserving their vitamins and flavors, then purees or blends them to your desired consistency.

You can also use it to quickly reheat or defrost precooked foods. Prepares fresh, healthful meals for baby. Includes 2 1/2-cup plastic bowl, cooking basket and spatula, with recipe booklet.

You can also purchase accessories along with the steam and puree machine Beaba B2066 Baby Cook Set - Baby Cook and Multiportions - Blue.

Have you used the Beaba Babycook Baby Food Maker? What do you think about the product?

I've been a Nanny for 13 years and am also a classically trained chef, so I tend to make the food for the babies I care for. I'd be willing to try this device out to see if it makes things easier. It sounds like it might make my process go a little faster.

I love, love, love this machine. It's gotten a little stained from making so many carrots and sweet potatoes but it works wonderfully. It's just so easy. My boss bought it along with some little plastic cube containers (I'm guessing two ounces per cube). I just fill them up and stick them in the freezer and microwave to defrost when ready to serve the food.

Plus I know what is going into the food. Just organic veggies and fruits so far and 100% food. Later when ready to serve the baby I just add formula to thin out thick foods like peas.

Works much better than a regular blender or food processor. I suppose if you have twins or more infants you'd prefer a food processor since they can make more food. But for the one infant I care for it's perfect. The other children just eat regular food.

This is a super usefull machine and I loved using it for the baby. Now the baby eats mostly finger foods but still I use the Beaba a lot. I use it to reheat leftoversand also use it to chop or puree older kid and adult dinners. For example, the older kids love pureed pears and apples so I go ahead and make them apple sauce and pear sauce without any additives and use it with pork or just as a dessert. It's also easier to steam veggies in this then on the stove. I steam broccoli and cauliflower for the whole family using this gadget. The only drawback is it doesn't have a huge capacity. Beware the blades are super sharp!

I totally recommend this product to any nanny or au pair. It's so easy! It is super healthy since it only steams the veggies (not boil the nutrients away) and we LOVE it!

My friend uses this and loves it. She brags about it all the time.

I do love this product. I have worked caring for infants in Manhattan with small kitchens. This easily stores in a cabinet or pantry. I just love how it's all contained and so easy to use. I never thought to use it to steam veggies for rest of family like others have commented about on this blog. Great idea. I just loved using it.

I cut my finger on the blade after first time using it. I think you should only wash it on top rack of dishwasher.

I love it just wish it were a little bigger so I could freeze more by making bigger servings.

I just wish it were a little bigger so I could make more at one time.

I prefer steaming the vegetables and fruit in a large pot with large steamer and then using the cuisinart.

The problem I find with these little all in one gadgets is they are too small. I understand why others love them for less dishes, but once the baby is 7 months old or so you have to keep refilling these small appliances and takes too much time when you have to make more food.

For the first few weeks introducing foods to a baby the all in ones are ok. But they are way too small once a baby is 7 months old IMO. I tire of only fitting a little bit of food in this small appliance then having to scrape down the sides constantly.
